What Is Your Heritage? (Part 1)

We all grow up with the weight of history on us. Our ancestors dwell in the attics of our brains as they do in the spiraling chains of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies. ~Shirley Abbott

Maybe you are wondering what does herencia mean? When translated to English herencia  means heritage. Heritage is defined as “something that comes or belongs to one by reason of birth”.

Well, the heritage I speak about goes beyond properties, money and so forth. There is more than what meets our eyes and sometimes life gets in our way that we don’t even stop to think of who we are and how we got here. And no I am not talking of coming from outer space. I am guessing that majority of us have asked our parents or grandparents of where we come from? If you haven’t ask maybe you have wondered about it but whatever your case may be I hope to lead you in opening the door to such a journey.

Not all of us were born in a royal house with our family history is already written down, preserved, and passed down from generation to generation. Majority of us will have to do research and study our past in order to understand ourselves and the culture we were brought up with.
